The Be Your Own Boss (BYOB) Project is an entrepreneurship initiative by Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (PERNAS), implemented through strategic collaboration with the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP).
The programme provides structured access to franchise, pre-franchise, or licensing business opportunities, specifically targeted at youth and women, to support their journey towards sustainable business ownership.
Objective
To cultivate youth and women as franchise business owners by providing financial assistance and a structured training programme, followed by six months of business mentoring and monitoring upon commencement.
What’s Offered
- A holistic and competitive entrepreneurship programme for Bumiputera participants, covering business matching, financing assistance, structured training, as well as business coaching and monitoring.

How to Get Started
This initiative also supports pre-franchisors and master franchisees in expanding their business in Malaysia. For master franchisees, the rights must first be obtained from the franchisor.
1. Attend Outreach BYOB Program
2. Receive an offer letter from the franchisor/ pre-franchisor/licensor
3. Submit financing application to Pernas
4. Complete the 2-day program training program
5. Commence business operations
6. Receive ongoing mentoring and guidance for six (6) months
7. Six months of monitoring and guidance

Aimed at youth keen to venture into franchise business, YOUNITY provides financial assistance, structured courses, and ongoing business advisory support.
