YBhg. Dato’ Shamsuddin bin Mohd Mahayidin (Dato’ Shamsuddin) was appointed as the Independent Non-Executive Director of Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (Pernas) on 11 January 2024.

Dato’ Shamsuddin holds a Bachelor’s degree in business administration (Management System) from Lakehead University, Canada, a Master’s degree in Business Administrationfrom Manchester Business School, United Kingdom, and Professional Certificate in Islamic Finance from the International Center for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF) University.

Dato’ Shamsuddin also holds Adjunct Lecturer at Taylor’s University, and Adjunct Professorships at DRB-Hicom University of Automotive Malaysia and University Putra
Malaysia.

Dato’ Shamsuddin was previously an Adjunct Professor at University Malaysia Kelantan and served on the Advisory Panel for its Master’s Degree Programme in Islamic Finance at the Faculty of Entrepreneurship and Business.

Dato’ Shamsuddin has served at Bank Negara Malaysia for 38 years before retiring in March 2023. During this time, he was involved in various roles including those relating to the development of the financial market, international financial cooperation and related policy formulation, investment operations and foreign exchange administration. He has extensive experience in strategic management of support service operations (facilities management hospitality service, museum operations, security operations and centralised procurement), organisational governance and risk management, procurement and sourcing strategy, process improvement, organisational transformation and change management.

Dato’ Shamsuddin is currently the Independent Non-Executive Chairman of DearTime Sdn. Bhd., Independent Non-Executive Director of OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad, Director ofMalaysia International Franchise Sdn. Bhd. (the wholly owned subsidiary of Pernas) and Public Interest Director at the Federation of Investment Managers Malaysia (FIMM).
