KUALA LUMPUR, 14 APRIL 2025 – Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (Pernas) today announced the appointment of Datuk Nor Azam bin M. Taib as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective 14 April 2025.
Datuk Nor Azam brings with him over 26 years of experience in the banking and finance sector, including his tenure in MBSB. During the tenure, he held several key leadership roles including Chief Business Officer, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, and most recently served as Chief Executive Officer until June 2024.
Throughout his service at MBSB Bank, he spearheaded various transformation initiatives, including the restructuring of corporate and retail banking, the introduction of a more customer-centric branch model, and the implementation of digital projects such as the Virtual Branch, Digital Halal Hub, and Smart School Project. He also played a pivotal role in the acquisition of Asian Finance Bank (AFB) and the transformation of MBSB into a full-fledged Islamic commercial bank.
Prior to MBSB, he also served as Head of Business Banking at Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad, where he was responsible for crafting business development strategies, managing the corporate customer portfolio, and planning the growth of the business banking segment.
His banking career also includes stints at leading financial institutions such as Citibank, OCBC Bank, Arab Malaysian Bank, and Hong Leong Bank.
Datuk Nor Azam’s appointment as CEO of Pernas marks the beginning of a new chapter for the organisation. His extensive experience and expertise are expected to further strengthen Pernas’ position and propel its achievements to greater heights.
