KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Retail Chain Association (MRCA) has launched the “MRCA Academy Scholarship 2025” program, providing 100 full scholarships to enhance the professionalism, industry standards and competitiveness of retail practitioners in the country.

The President of the Malaysian Retail Chain Association, Datuk Pan Zhengquan, said that this programme reflects MRCA’s firm commitment to cultivating talents in the retail and franchising sectors. He believes that by cultivating employees’ practical skills and obtaining recognized qualifications, it will promote the development of individuals and the industry.

In a statement, he said MRCA will offer 100 full scholarships through collaboration with Sunway University, London Examinations Board, Perikatan Nasional and INTI International University.

“This scholarship is only open to full-time employees of MRCA member companies, certified by partners and providing industry-recognized certificates, so as to enhance the professionalism of Malaysian retail practitioners and promote the improvement of industry standards and competitiveness.”

Scholarship recipients can choose to pursue a Micro-Certificate in Retail Marketing, Micro-Certificate in Food and Beverage Management, Advanced Diploma in Retail Management, or Advanced Diploma in Franchise Operations.

“These programmes are designed to equip students with practical skills, enabling graduates to become part of a network of professional retail talent to adapt to Malaysia’s booming retail and F&B industries.”

Pan Zhengquan said the scholarship funds came from the proceeds of the association’s Chinese New Year auction dinner, which successfully raised RM348,000.

Two students who are currently pursuing further studies will also receive a RM10,000 scholarship from the association. They are Li Cunjie (transliteration), who is studying for a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery, and Mikas, who is studying for a diploma in interior design.
